OCEAN is a non-profit organization which sponsors international exchange students, ages 15-18, and places them in volunteer host families and high schools throughout the U.S. for a semester or academic year.  The purpose of our program is to promote international understanding, cultural awareness and academic excellence.  OCEAN has been designated by the U.S. Department of State, as well as approved for listing with CSIET (Council on Standards for International Educational Travel).

 

OCEAN is ultimately responsible for all students during their sojourn.  As the sponsoring agency, our duties include, but are not limited to, the following:

 

• initializing contact with high schools.

• matching students with host families.

• screening, guiding and assisting all participants.

• providing the students and host families with orientations.

• recruiting and providing on-going training to all area representatives.

• maintaining contact with our home country and area representatives.

• providing our students with full health insurance coverage.

• providing students and host families with access to a  toll-free number for 24-hour assistance in emergency situations.
